The Lynn Spout is a cascade situated in the Lynn Glen, which is part of the history of the Dalry area. The glen was also the haunt of Bessie Dunlop, who was accused of witchcraft in the 16th century and is known as the Dalry witch. The name Lynn or variations such as Linn or Lyne is the Scots word for a waterfall or cascade. The glen and falls also derive their name from the de Lyne or Lynne family, who inherited the barony in about 1204. They became known as Lynn of that Ilk and were a landed family in Dalry for centuries, remembered in local folklore as a beloved aristocracy. Autumn leaf color or colour is a phenomenon that affects the normally green leaves of many deciduous trees and shrubs by which they take on, during a few weeks in the Autumn season, various shades of red, yellow, purple, black, orange, pink, magenta, blue and brown. The phenomenon is commonly called autumn colours or autumn foliage in British English and fall colors, fall foliage or simply foliage in American.
