These days the route known as Evans's Walk is a six mile track popular with walker and hikers. The Astor family, a prominent British American socialite and political family, owns the remote Glenbatrick Lodge near here. The Clan MacLean once owned large tracts of land across the Hebrides, including on Jura, but fell into debt and declined in power. By the late 17th century, the rising power of the Clan Campbell led to them acquiring most of the MacLean estates, including some of their lands on Jura.
