Cawdor Castle And Gardens With Bagpipes Music On History Visit To Highlands Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Summer travel video, with Scottish bagpipes music, of Cawdor Castle and gardens on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip near Niairn in the Highlands, Britain, U:nited Kingdom. Cawdor Castle was initially built as a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor. The central stone tower was built around a 15th century tower house, with additions in later centuries. A popular legend tells of the castle being built on the spot where a donkey carrying the Thane of Cawdor, William, chose to rest under a holly tree. The tree's remains can still be seen within the castle. The castle was originally the property of Clan Calder, but it passed to the Campbells in the 16th century. While the castle is famously linked to the play Macbeth, it's important to note that the historical King Macbeth did not live during the castle's construction, and the play itself does not directly mention Cawdor Castle. Cawdor Castle features beautiful gardens, including walled gardens, a maze, and a woodland area. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
