Tour Scotland short 4K Spring travel video of a road trip drive, with bagpipes music, on ancestry, genealogy, history visit to Collessie, North East Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. John Scott was christened in 1744 in Collessie, his christening record lists his father's first name as John, but does not list his mother's name. John married May Balmean of Flisk on 11 May 1764, after proclaiming on 21 April 1764 of his intention. May Balmain was the daughter of David Balmain and was christened on 15 Jan 1738. John Scott died on 12 March 1823 at seventy eight years of age. Collessie is a small village set on a small hillock centred on a historic church. Due to re-routing of roads, it now lies off the main road. It is situated on a minor road just north of the A91 road, 5 miles West of Cupar., overlooking the Howe of Fife. It has several well preserved 17th, 18th, and 19th Century weaving cottages. Designated a conservation area in 1986, it has a primary school dating from 1846. The church was consecrated by the Bishop of St. Andrews in July 1243. It is mentioned in charters of both 1252 and 1262, and so was complete by those dates. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
