A hamlet in Central Perth and Kinross, Craigend is situated between the River Earn and the River Tay, a mile to the South of Perth. It lies on the old road to Perth from the South, and gives its name to the Craigend Interchange on the modern motorway. Immediately to the south the railway line from Perth which leaves the Moncrieffe Tunnel, and beyond is Hilton Junction where the line divides between the route to Glasgow via Stirling) and Edinburgh via Ladybank in Fife.
