A commuter village in Perth and Kinross, Wester Balgedie or Meikle Balgedie is located 4 miles East of Kinross near Loch Leven. It is formerly an agricultural and weaving fermetoun, that for the most part sits apart from the main road to Kinross. At a fork in the road stands the Balgedie Toll Tavern which dates from the 19th Century. Spring in the United Kingdom depends on whether you are following the astronomical or metrological calendar. The date for astronomical spring is Sunday 20th March, ending on Tuesday 21st June, while by the meteorological calendar, spring will start on Tuesday 1st March.
