Tour Scotland 4K Winter travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish bagpipes music, to the Golf Course on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to St Andrews, Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. A short drive along , Union Street, North Street and Links Road by the 18th Hole. The Old Course at St Andrews is one of the oldest golf courses in the world and is a public course over common land. It is considered by many to be the " home of golf " because the sport was first played on the Links at St Andrews in the early 15th century. Golf was becoming increasingly popular in Scotland until in 1457, when King James II of Scotland banned golf because he felt that young men were playing too much golf instead of practicing their archery. The ban was upheld by the following kings of Scotland until 1502, when King James IV became a golfer himself and removed the ban. St Andrews is a former royal burgh and parish located 10 miles south east of Dundee and 30 miles north east of Edinburgh. By the meteorological calendar, the first day of Winter is always 1st December in Scotland; ending on 28th of February. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
