Tour Scotland short 4K travel video clip, with Scottish music, of the living room of a Weavers cottage on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. Weavers' cottages were common in Great Britain, often with the only dwelling quarters on the lower floors and loom shop on the top floor. In the living room, where they also slept, residents could benefit from heat from the single hearth. During the medieval and early modern periods there was a strong presence of people of Flemish origin in the area immediately to the north of the Firth of Forth, the present day Kingdom of Fife. Flemish weavers were brought to Fife and many made their homes in the area. In the middle to late 17th century some eight apprentice weavers were in Crail with names that appear to be Flemish. There were also weavers in Burntisland and Dunfermline and Anstruther. Flemish weavers would also have lived in other Fife towns. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
