St Bride's Chapel With Music On History Visit To St Conan's Kirk Loch Awe Argyll Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K travel video clip, with Scottish music, of St Bride's Chapel on visit and trip to St Conan's Kirk by Loch Awe, Argyll, Britain, United Kingdom. This chapel contains the tomb of the Fourth Lord Blythswood, who helped to carry on the work on St Conan's Kirk after Walter Campbell and his sister had both died. Archibald Campbell, born 4th Baron Blythswood was born on 25 April 1870, he was the son of Barrington Campbell, 3rd Baron Blythswood, and grandson of Archibald Douglas of Mains. He gained the rank of Major in the Scots Guards and also in the service of the 4th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. On 20 May 1922 he was appointed Honorary Colonel of 81st Welsh Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Campbell was educated at Eton and on 25 July 1895, he married Evelyn Fletcher and they had one child: He died on on 14 November 1929. This chapel is in a very early Norman style and contains two slabs of Levantine marble about which there is a curious little history. Although coming originally from the Mediterranean, they were shaped and polished somewhere near Louvain. The first duly arrived on Loch Awe side in the summer of 1914, but the second had to wait until the end of the First World War before it could join its neighbour. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
