Tour Scotland 4K Summer travel video of a short walk to Moirlanich Longhouse on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to Glen Lochay by Killin, Highlands, Britain, United Kingdom. The longhouse at Moirlanich is an important and rare survival of a once common type of Scottish building. It retains evidence of its turf and thatch roof beneath the corrugated iron roof. This type of building was also called a blackhouse or byre dwelling. The building was occupied by at least three generations of a local Robertson family, tenant farmers and horse breeders. It's said that Robert the Bruce roamed Glen Lochay as a fugitive after his defeat by Alistair MacDougall of Lorne in 1306. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day
