Tour Scotland 4K travel video, with Scottish music, of a Spring road trip drive, West on the A85 route through St Fillans on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Lochearnhead in Highland Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. St Fillans lies at the eastern end of Loch Earn, 4 miles west of Comrie on the A85 road. St Fillans was a small clachan in the 18th century, known as Port of Lochearn, or Meikleport. In 1817 it was renamed St Fillans by Lord Gwydyr, the husband of Clementina Drummond, heiress to the Drummond Estate. Lochearnhead is situated at the western end of Loch Earn where the A85 road from Crieff meets the A84. Loch Earn was on the frontier between Pictland and Dalriada, or Dál Riata, the kingdom of the incoming Scots from Ireland, Dundurn at the east end of the loch being a Pictish frontier fort. This lends weight to the argument that the name Earn therefore comes from Eireann, in other words " the loch of the Irish. Spring in the northern hemisphere technically starts on the 20 March, at the equinox, and lasts until the 20 or 21 June, the Summer solstice. This is also the case in Scotland.The months that make up the Spring season are March, April and May. However, for travelling at this time of year, I will be referring to April and May.
