Pigeon Pecking For Food On Visit To My Cottage Garden Scone By Perth Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland short Spring Monday Bank Holiday Weekend 4K wildlife camera travel video clip of the sight and sounds of a Pigeon pecking for food in my cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Pecking is the action of a bird using their beak to search for food or otherwise investigate an object or area by tapping. Pecking is frequently observed in pigeons and is typically accomplished by movement of the neck. The phrase, pecking order, referring to the hierarchical system of social organization was coined by Thorleif Schjelderup-Ebbe in 1921, in reference to the expression of dominance in chickens by behaviors including pecking. The wood pigeon, Columba palumbus, is the largest member of the dove and pigeon family in Great Britain, measuring about 15 inches long on average. Found in large flocks outside of breeding season, the wood pigeon eats a largely vegetable diet, foraged in open fields, gardens, lawns, including fruits, berries and grains. Spring in the northern hemisphere technically starts on the 20 March, at the equinox, and lasts until the 20 or 21 June, the Summer solstice. This is also the case in Scotland. The months that make up the Spring season are March, April and May. However, for travelling at this time of year, I will be referring to April and May. Just acquired this Wildlife camera to shoot motion detection videos in my garden, it appears to have reasonable microphone, so you can hear sounds as well. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.
