Tour Scotland short 4K Spring travel video clip, with Scottish music, of the pink washed Abbot House on ancestry, genealogy, family, history visit to Dunfermline, Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. As the oldest surviving 16th century secular building within Dunfermline town, and a survivor of the Great Fire of Dunfermline in 1624, the Abbot house building is indicative of the changing styles of Scottish architecture from the 16th to the 20th centuries. The earliest phase of the house was a two story rectangular block of at least two storeys, built into the existing precinct wall. This house incorporated a small Z-plan tower house. Abbot House was used by the commendators of Dunfermline Abbey, including by Robert Pitcairn, who probably built or remodelled the house. The abbey property soon passed to the Seton Earls of Dunfermline, , then went to Captain James Stewart, Earl of Arran, while other owners included the Master of Gray, the Gordon Earl of Huntly, and Anne of Denmark, wife of King James VI.
