St Andrews is a former royal burgh and parish located 10 miles south east of Dundee and 30 miles north east of Edinburgh. The town is home to the University of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the English speaking world and the oldest in Scotland. The town is named after Saint Andrew the Apostle, who was a Galilean fisherman before he and his brother Simon Peter became disciples of Jesus Christ. He was crucified by the Romans on an X-shaped cross at Patras in Greece and, hundreds of years later, his remains were moved to Constantinople and then, in the 13th century, to Amalfi in southern Italy where they are kept to this day. Saint Andrew is not only the Patron Saint of Scotland but also Romania, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Barbados. Hot and mist weather today for much of England, Wales and parts of Scotland. The Fife Coastal walking Path is a Scottish long distance walking footpath that runs from Kincardine to Newburgh. It runs for 117 miles along the coastline of Fife and passes through many seaside towns and villages including St Andrews. The path would take around one week to walk completely from end to end.
