Winter Snow By Parish Church And Graveyard On History Visit To Lundie Angus Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K Winter travel video of snow by the Parish Church and graveyard on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Lundie in Angus, Britain. This rural Scottish parish church, close to the suburbs of Dundee dates to the 12th century, when it was dedicated to St Lawrence The Martyr. It was built on a small rise by the powerful Durward family who owned the surrounding land. The surname Durward was first found in the Valley of the River Dee. The family name became associated with the de Lundins. Whether the name was an office to which Alan Durward, son of de Lundin, succeeded in 1204, or whether it was a Norman noble, Reiner Dureward from Norfolk, England, is unknown. Alan married an natural born daughter of King Alexander of Scotland and eventually became Regent and justicair of Scotland. He was immortalized by Walter Scott. On his death his lands were divided between three daughters. Spelling variations are extremely common among early Scottish names. Durward has been spelled Dorward, Dorward, Durwood, Dorwood, Dyrwood, Dyrward, Dirward and many more. By the meteorological calendar, the first day of Winter is always 1st December in Scotland; ending on 28th of February.
