Tour Scotland 4K travel video of a steam train climbing a hill near Tyndrum on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to the Scottish Highlands, Britain, United Kingdom. For many railway enthusiasts, the sight and sound of a steam locomotive working hard up a steep gradient is an awesome. The nearby Upper Tyndrum railway station was opened on 7 August 1894 by the West Highland Railway At that time it was simply named Tyndrum as was the neighbouring station down the valley on the Callander and Oban route. Thanks to the contouring technique of engineer Charles Forman, Upper station is perched high on the hillside, on the climb to County March. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
