Tour Scotland short Spring 4K travel video, with Scottish music, of the old parish church on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Carnock in West Fife. This narrow rectangular church dates to the early thirteenth century and it has undergone several phases of repair and reconstruction since this date. The first reference to it dates from the time of Bishop Malvoisin of St Andrews, born 1202, who granted it to the hospital at Loch Leven. The church is on a raised area in the south east corner of the Carnock Cemetery and it has been suggested this was the site of an Early Christian place of worship. The ruins of the original 12th Century Carnock Parish Church was rebuilt in 1602 by the salt manufacturer Sir George Bruce of Culross. Carnock is a village and parish located 4.2 miles West of Dunfermline and 1.3 miles East of Oakley. The name of the village derives from Scottish Gaelic, from ceàrn meaning corner Carnock is known to have had roman military significance in antiquity. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
