Tour Scotland 4K travel video, with Scottish music, of a Winter, sunny, but cold road trip drive, with music, from Gauldry, through Wormit, on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to the old ferry terminal in Newport-on-Tay, North East Fife. Major expansion of the village took place in the nineteenth century, and this increase was triggered initially by the development of the ferry service between Newport and Dundee. The ferry buildings were erected in 1878 and these Victorian pier buildings in Newport were once a hub of activity, as passengers prepared to take the ferry across the River Tay. The area around the ferry terminal was the unofficial high street at the time, the buildings were home to fishmongers, bakers and butchers. But in 1966 the Tay Road Bridge opened, providing a quicker route across the river, and bringing that era to an end. The buildings are now used by the University of Dundee for its marine studies as the Tay Estuary Research Centre.
