Winter Parish Church And Graveyard On History Visit To Anstruther East Neuk Of Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Winter travel video clip of the Parish Church on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Anstruther, East Neuk of Fife. The current Anstruther Church is made up of three previous Parish Churches. These were Anstruther Easter, Anstruther Wester and Chalmers Memorial, united in 1973. The building you are viewing was originally Anstruther Easter built in 1634 to allow the people of the area to worship locally, instead of having to make their way to Kilrenny Church. The steeple houses a clock with faces on three sides. This was paid for by public subscription and was put in place in 1878. The Church is a barn like building with no apse or chancel. The steeple was an afterthought built in 1644, the spire the following year, to house a 'siller bell' brought from Holland. The bell is still in use today and bears the inscription Andro Strang bought this bell with his ain monyes anno 1641. The Fife Coastal Path is a Scottish long distance walking footpath that runs from Kincardine to Newburgh. It runs for 117 miles along the coastline of Fife and passes through many seaside towns and villages including Anstruther. The path would take around one week to walk completely from end to end. I was raised in Anstruther in the East Neuk Of Fife. All photographs are copyright of Sandy Stevenson, Tour Scotland, and may not be used without permission.
