Winter Inner Harbour On History Visit To Coast Of St Andrews Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K Winter travel video of the inner harbour on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to St Andrews on the coast of North East Fife. The harbour is an estuary haven formed in the tidal mouth of the Kinness Burn. A small, but growing, number of pleasure craft are based within the sheltered waters of the Inner basin. A fishing harbour is mentioned as early as 1222, and another medieval record dates from 1363; no doubt the estuary here has been used as a natural shelter since the earliest days of navigation. St Andrews harbour is home to a fleet of around a dozen small fishing vessels, landing high quality shellfish from around the nearby shores, which are sold locally, nationally and exported to Europe. Officially, the Scottish winter runs from the 21st of December through to the 20th March. The Fife Coastal Walking Path goes through St Andrews and runs from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north and stretches for 117 miles.
