Winter History Visit With Music To Parish Church And Graveyard St Serf's Dunning Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland travel video, with Scottish Music, of photographs from a Winter ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to the church and graveyard at St Serf's Dunning, Perthshire. The church of St. Serf, Dunning was first mentioned in 1219.It came under the Abbey of Inchaffrey, near Madderty, which was founded by Earl Gilbert of Strathearn and witnessed by Anechal, Thane of Dunning and founder of the surname Dunning. The present tower was probably started in the mid 12th century, and a single storey medieval church with nave and chancel built on to it. Saint Serf is said to have slain a dragon with his pastoral staff. Saint Serf is also sometimes called the apostle of Orkney. Saint Serf is connected with Saint Mungo's Church near Simonburn, Northumberland, England. Officially, the Scottish winter runs from the 21st of December through to the 20th March.
