Winter Harbour On History Visit To St Andrews North East Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K Winter travel video of small fishing boats in the harbour on ancestry, genealogy visit to St Andrews on the coast of North East Fife. St Andrews harbour is home to a fleet of around a dozen small fishing vessels, landing high quality shellfish from around the nearby shores, which are sold locally, nationally and exported to Europe. St Andrews harbour is an estuary haven formed in the tidal mouth of the Kinness Burn. A fishing harbour is mentioned as early as 1222, and another medieval record dates from 1363. The long pier was rebuilt in 1656 with stone largely taken from the Castle. Officially, the Scottish winter runs from the 21st of December through to the 20th March. The Fife Coastal Path goes through St Andrews and runs from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north and stretches for 117 miles All photographs are copyright of Sandy Stevenson, Tour Scotland, and may not be used without permission.
