Tour Scotland 4K late Autumn and early Winter travel video of the castle on an island in Loch Leven on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Kinross, Perthshire. Mary Queen of Scots escaped from the Lochleven Castle in a boat rowed by a castle page boy and she was met on the shore by loyal supporters who escorted her to safety. Many royals were guests, as opposed to prisoners, at Lochleven Castle, including King Robert Bruce. The tower house where Mary was held is one of Scotland’s oldest, built in the 1300s. It was here that she suffered a miscarriage and was forced to abdicate in favour of her son, King James VI. On a previous visit, as a guest, Mary had had one of her long religious debates with Protestant reformer John Knox here.
