A much extended hamlet, Grange, or The Grange, lies a half mile North of Errol Airfield and 2 miles North East of the village of Errol. Beginning as a collection of farms, it grew in conjunction with the development of the airfield and was considerably extended in the early years of the 21st century with a large development of private housing. The Anglo-Saxon name Grange comes from when the family resided in a Grange which were farms that belonged to the old abbeys. These farms were attended by monks who carried out their agricultural activities, and where the grain and cattle were held. The name was derived from the Middle English and Old French word grange which meant granary or barn. Grange has been recorded under many different spelling variations, including Grange, Grainge, Greinge, Graynge and others. Edward Grange, and English convict from London, was transported aboard the "ship Anson on September 23, 1843, settling in Van Diemen's Land, Australia; Christopher Grange arrived in Adelaide, Australia aboard the ship Spartan in 1849; Thomas Grange, born 1858, was a Scottish settler from Lanark who travelled from London, England, aboard the ship Zealandia arriving in Lyttelton, Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand on 14th November 1859; Thomas Grange arrived in Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1749; John Grange settled in Virginia, America, in 1635; Arnoldus DeLa Grange landed in Maryland, America, in 1666, John Grange arrived in Maryland in 1667; Matthew Grange landed in Pennsylvania in 1682; Edward Grange arrived in Virginia in 1697.
