Summer Slioch Mountain On History Visit To Wester Ross North West Highlands Of Scotland

Tour Scotland Summer travel video, with Scottish music, of Slioch, Scottish Gaelic: Sleaghach, mountain in Wester Ross on ancestry, genealogy, history visit to the North West Highlands. Slioch is unusual in being bounded on three sides by waters flowing south east from Lochan Fada, then south west from Gleann Bianasdail, and finally north west from Loch Maree. It is located north of the village of Kinlochewe. The mountain's name comes from the Gaelic word sleagh and means the spear and this only becomes obvious when Slioch is viewed from Lochan Fada to the north east, from here the subsidiary top of Sgurr an Tuill Bhain meaning Peak of the White Hollow, dominates as a slender peak and gives the mountain its name.
