Interior Of St Michael and All Saints Church On Visit To Tollcross Edinburgh Scotland



Tour Scotland travel video, with Scottish music, of the interior of St Michael and All Saints Church on visit to Tollcross in Edinburgh. The church was designed by the Edinburgh Architect Sir Robert Rowand Anderson and built in 1867. The Church boasts fine altar pieces by William Burges in 1867. William was born on 2nd of December, 1827, and on died 20th of April 1881. He was an English architect and designer. His most notable works are Cardiff Castle, constructed between 1866 and 1928 and Castell Coch constructed between 1872 and 1891, both of which were undertaken for John Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute. Another alter was by C E Kemp in 1889 and the church has excellent stained glass by William Wailes, Clayton Bell & Ninian Comper. Of note is the 16th and 17th century Spanish Pulpit with carved allegorical figures of Hope and Justice at the corners, and the statues on the reredos on the high Altar that were were carved in Obberamergau a municipality in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in Bavaria, Germany. The small town on the Ammer River is known for its woodcarvers and woodcarvings. The Chapel was designed by Hamilton More Nisbett.
