Tour Scotland New Year's day travel video of a morning road trip drive, with Scottish music, through the city centre on visit with friends to Perth. Perthshire. Perth has been known as The Fair City since the publication of the story Fair Maid of Perth by Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott in 1828. During the later medieval period the city was also called St John's Toun or Saint Johnstoun by its inhabitants in reference to the main church dedicated to St John the Baptist. New Year's Day, also simply called New Year or New Year's, is observed on 1 January, the first day of the year. Wednesday, 1 January, 2020.
