Late Autumn Morning Road Trip Drive To The Castle In Doune Scotland

Tour Scotland travel video of a late Autumn morning road trip drive, with Scottish music, West on the A9 road from Perth, then the A820 road on ancestry visit to Doune Castle, Stirlingshire. Cold weather but now snow yet in this area of the Lowlands. This Scottish castle was built at the end of the 14th Century for Robert Stewart, the first Duke of Albany. These days, Doune Castle is a place well known to Monty Python fans from all over the world who come to see the place where they filmed Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Game of Thrones. In the Outlander series, Doune Castle, which was originally built in 1390, stands in as the fictional Castle Leoch. When the series opens, Claire, Caitriona Balfe, and Frank, Tobias Menzies, visit the ruin in 1945 and soon after, when Claire mysteriously travels back in time to 1743, she gets taken to the Castle by Jamie, Sam Heughan, and his clan. Later in the first season, the Claire and Jamie would return to Leoch, which became the backdrop for the show's witch trial. The distance by road from Perth, Perthshire to Doune Castle is 33.8 miles
