Autumn Grey Squirrel Burying A Peanut In My Cottage Garden Scone By Perth Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland 4K Autumn travel video of a young Grey squirrel burying a peanut under a leaf on a visit to my cottage garden in Scone by Perth, Perthshire. During autumn when food is abundant, squirrels have plenty of spare time to collect nuts one at a time in their mouth. They scrape a small hole in soft earth and bury their prize, patting the soil down on top to hide it from birds. Although it was commonly thought that squirrels primarily used smell to uncover their stored food, research reveals that memory actually plays a bigger part in their food retrieval. These cute critters like to cache or hide supplies, burying nuts and seeds to help them survive harsh winters
