Tour Scotland travel video Blog of the Alexander Ogilvy Barrie Celtic Cross gravestone on ancestry visit to Kirriemuir in Angus, Scotland. The surname Barrie was first found in Angus, Gaelic: Aonghas, part of the Tayside region of northeastern Scotland, and present day Council Area of Angus, formerly known as Forfar or Forfarshire, where they have held territories from very ancient times. Robert Barrie, aged 37, a labourer, arrived in South Australia in 1854 aboard the ship " Nugget " Jessie Barrie, born 1849, aged 15, a British domestic servant travelling aboard the ship " Amoor " arrived in Lyttleton, South Island, New Zealand on 1st July 1864. Debora Barrie settled in Virginia, America, in 1635.
