Old Photograph Cottage Post Office Colonsay Scotland
Old photograph of people outside the cottage Post Office on Colonsay, Scotland. Colonsay is an island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, located north of Islay and south of Mull. Viking influence is evident in many place names, including " Colonsay " itself, which most likely means " Kolbein's island " in Old Norse. In the medieval period, the island fell under the control of the powerful Lords of the Isles (Clan Donald), who granted it to the Clan Macfie (MacDuffie) around the 14th century. The Macfies were also the hereditary keepers of the records for the Lordship
