Old photograph of houses and people in Inveresk, Musselburgh, Scotland. The element " Inver ", from the Gaelic inbhir, refers to the confluence of the river Esk with the Firth of Forth. Sir Henry Yule was born in Inveresk on 1 May 1820. He was a Scottish Orientalist. He published many travel books, including translations of the work of Marco Polo and Mirabilia by the 14th century Dominican Friar Jordanus. He was also the compiler of a dictionary of Anglo Indian terms. Yule died at his final home in Earls Court, London, England, on 30 December 1889 aged 69, and is buried at Tunbridge Wells.
