Tour Scotland Travel Video Road Trip Drive A87 Road To Snizort Parish Church Isle Of Skye Inner Hebrides

Tour Scotland travel video of a road trip drive South on the A87 road on ancestry visit to Snizort Parish Church in Kensaleyre on the Isle Of Skye, inner Hebrides, Scotland. Kensaleyre, Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Sàil Eighre, is scattered crofting township, part of a group of settlements clustered around the A87 road on the shore of Loch Snizort Beag. The church, situated at the head of Loch Snizort, was built by James Gillespie Graham about the year 1800. Additions and repairs were carried out by Alexander Ross in 1872. The most famous person connected with the parish of Snizort is Flora Macdonald, a name which will ever be recorded for the fortitude and heroism which she displayed in favoring the escape of Prince Charles Stuart, after the memorable battle of Culloden. She was the daughter of Macdonald of Milton, in South Uist, of which island she was a native.
