Tour Scotland travel video of a walk around St Mary's Scottish Episcopal Church on ancestry visit to the village of Birnam, Highland Perthshire, Scotland. The land for the new church was given by Sir William Stewart, Laird of Murthly, and the building was completed in 1858, being dedicated to St Mary the Virgin by the Reverend Charles Wordsworth, Bishop of St Andrews from 1853 to 1893 and a nephew of the famous poet William.The main church was built to a design by William Slater in 1858. William, born 1819, died 17 December 1872, was an English architect who was born in Northamptonshire and practised in London, England. The addition of north aisle and baptistery was by Norman and Beddoe. The Organ was originally by Forster and Andrews 1874. " May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.
