Tour Scotland Travel Video Road Trip Drive Duirinish Peninsula Isle Of Skye Inner Hebrides

Tour Scotland travel video of a road trip drive on the single track roads with passing places on ancestry visit to the Duirinish Peninsula on the Isle Of Skye, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. The Gaelic name Diùranais or Diùirinis means " deer headland " and is in part derived from the Old Norse dyr. The peninsula is also known as dùthaich nam mogan, meaning " land of the mogan shoes ", and the inhabitants as moganaich. On 4 August 1830 many crofters in the area were ordered to leave their homes and board the ship Midlothian for forced emigration, on threat of jail if they refused. Those older than 70 were sent instead to the poorhouse. Most of these road here are only wide enough for one vehicle and have passing places. If you see a vehicle coming towards you, or the driver behind wants to overtake, try to pull into a passing place on your left, or wait opposite a passing place on your right. Give way to vehicles coming uphill whenever you can. If necessary, reverse until you reach a passing place to let the other vehicle pass.
