Tour Scotland Travel Video Pipe Band Drummers At The Strathmore Highland Games Glamis Castle

Tour Scotland travel video of drummers from The Highlanders (4 SCOTS) Pipe Band at the 2018 Strathmore Highland Games on ancestry visit to Glamis Castle, Angus, Scotland. The drum corps of a pipe band consists of a section of drummers playing Highland snare drums and the bass section. In the early days of pipe bands, rope tension snare drums were common, but as the technology evolved, so did the music. Pipe band drummers now play on drums with very tight, knitted kevlar heads, designed for maximum tension to create a very crisp and strident sound. Due to technological innovations and changing aesthetics, this crispness has become an integral part of the pipe band sound. The band wears Cameron of Erracht tartan kilts. The battalion primarily recruits from the Hebrides, the Northern Isles, the mainland counties of Inverness-shire, Ross and Cromarty, Sutherland, Caithness, Moray and Nairnshire, and from the traditional Gordon heartlands in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. The Battalion Headquarters is located at Cameron Barracks in Inverness in the Highlands.
