Old photograph of the Farquhar Tailor Shop on Roods Street in Kirriemuir, Scotland. The surname Farquhar is of Celtic origin and is derived from the Gaelic word Ver-car-or, which later became Fearcha, or Ferchard and several other variants in the 12th century and later. The Farquhars have, on the whole, been characterized by physical vitality and in many cases by practicality and resourcefulness; traits which have contributed to their success in business and in professional pursuits.
