Old Photograph Youth Hostel Braemar Scotland

Old photograph of the Youth Hostel in Braemar, Royal Deeside, Scotland. The building originally served as a grand shooting lodge. It was constructed to accommodate wealthy parties visiting the area for deer stalking, grouse shooting, and fishing. The annual Highland Games Gathering is held at Braemar on the first Saturday in September and is traditionally attended by the British Royal Family. Since Queen Victoria's time the reigning Monarch has been the patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society.
