Old Photograph Burnmill Lauder Scotland
Old photograph of Burnmill in Lauder in the Scottish Borders, 27 miles South East of Edinburgh, Scotland. Mills formed an early and important part of Lauder's medieval economy. Richard, son of Hugh de Moreville granted tithes from the mills of Lauder to Dryburgh. In the sixteenth century there is a reference to the Common Burn Mill which belonged to the town, the Mill of Lauder which belonged to the Lauder family, a corn mill and also a waulk mill.
