The Infantry Mission is " To defeat the enemy through close combat." The Battalion Headquarters is in Perth, Perthshire, and there are Company and Platoon locations at Army Reserve Centres in Dundee in Tayside, Aberdeen, Kirkcaldy in Fife, Inverness, Elgin, Stornoway on Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, Dumbarton and Stirling. The paired Regular Battalion is The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, 3 SCOTS, based at Fort George near Inverness in the Highlands, and form part of 51 Infantry Brigade.
