Tour Scotland Video Hutchinson Memorial Hut Eastern Highlands



Tour Scotland wee video of photographs of the Hutchinson Memorial Hut and Bothy on ancestry, genealogy visit to the Cairngorms in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. The Hutchison Memorial Hut was built in 1954 with kind permission of the Trustees of the late Duke of Fife as a mountain refuge in Coire Etchachan at a height of about 2,500 feet. Its erection was made possible by funds subscribed by friends of the late Doctor Arthur Gilbertson Hutchison of Aberdeen, who was killed in a climbing accident in Pembrokeshire in 1949. The construction was carried out by W J Brown builders of Aberdeen with assistance in transport of materials etc from members of local climbing clubs and others.
