Old Photograph Tennis Courts Invergowrie Scotland

Old photograph of people playing on the Tennis Courts in Invergowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. Tennis in its earlier forms was introduced into Scotland from France in the Middle Ages. It was traditionally known as " caitch " or " cache " in Scotland, and is an ancestor of the better known form of tennis. In the nineteenth century, tennis was a fairly exclusive sport, with high level participation being mainly by the upper classes.
