Old photograph of a man standing outside the thatched cottage Post Office in Howmore on South Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The office was a stop for the South Uist Post Bus, a vital service that transported both mail and passengers across the island. Drivers would collect mail from roadside post boxes along the route from Eriskay to the northern points of the island.
