Old Photograph Fountain Cowdenbeath Fife Scotland

Old photograph of people by the the Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Memorial Fountain in Cowdenbeath, Fife, Scotland. Cowdenbeath first came into prominence around 1820 as a stop on the North bound coaching route to Perth, Perthshire. Indeed, Queen Victoria's entourage stopped at the Cowdenbeath Coaching Inn to change horses on her first trip to Scotland in 1842, en route for Balmoral Castle. Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to travel and visit one day.
