Tour Scotland Photograph Video War Memorial Abernethy Perthshire

Tour Scotland video of the War Memorial on ancestry visit to Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland. This Scottish war memorial is an ancient cross in the village square, bearing the date 1458 and with the lion rampant and other heraldic shields at the top. The names of the war dead have been added to it. Abernethy Celtic Round Tower, built in the 11th century, was used as a watch tower and as a shelter for the monks from the local monastery, can be seen in the background. It was in this village where King Malcolm III knelt in feudal submission to William the Conqueror in 1072.
