Old photograph of crofters dyeing wool on Island Of Harris, Scotland. Dyers in Scotland utilized a wide array of plants and lichens found locally, such as "crottals" (lichens) for various colors, including red and black. Iris root was used for black and grey, and billberries for bright blue.
