A rainy and overcast afternoon at the larger than life bronze statue of a Black Watch soldier which stands at Powrie Brae against the backdrop of the Angus countryside and commemorates the sacrifice of over 440 soldiers of the fourth and fifth Battalion Black Watch who died in the Second World War. The Black Watch lost nearly 1400 men during WW2, almost a third of them from the fourth and fifth battalions.
