August 29th photograph of Blackearnside, Fife, Scotland. At Blackearnside, a forest of alders, to the east of Newburgh, William Wallace defeated Aymer de Valence, 2nd Earl of Pembroke in 1298. The forest is no longer there, but the photograph above was shot from the site of the battle.
