Old photograph of Fisherwomen in the East Neuk Of Fife, Scotland. Fishwives were the backbone of coastal communities like Anstruther, Pittenweem, St Monans, and Crail. Far from just " fishermen's wives, " these women were independent entrepreneurs who managed the entire land-based side of the fishing industry.
