Old Photograph Burns Memorial Tower Mauchline Scotland

Old photograph of the Robert Burns Memorial Tower near Mauchline, Ayrshire, Scotland. The Glasgow Mauchline Society initiated the proposal to build a national memorial to Robert Burns in Mauchline in 1895, organizing an appeal to raise funds. A design competition was won by William Fraser with a Scots Baronial style tower submission. The foundation stone was laid on July 23, 1896, and the tower was officially opened on May 7, 1898.
